I’m pleased that, following pressure from MPs across Parliament, Lloyds Bank has agreed to restore cheque deposit services at Post Offices and Banking Hubs until the end of 2030.
I was glad to support this campaign after hearing from people across Exmouth and Exeter East who rely on being able to deposit cheques locally.
This is a welcome step forward, and customers should soon be able to deposit cheques again, subject to the Post Office agreeing acceptable commercial terms with Lloyds.
I’ll continue working to protect and improve banking services across the local area, and I look forward to meeting with the Treasury Minister soon to discuss the criteria for Banking Hubs and how we can secure better access to banking for local communities.
