I had the pleasure of joining Clyst Caring Friends as they celebrated their 40th anniversary.
The day began with the official opening of the new Phone Box Book Exchange.
I then visited the charity's shop in Broadclyst, meeting some of the dedicated volunteers whose hard work helps sustain the organisation's activities. The celebrations concluded at the community centre, where it was wonderful to meet service users, hear about their experiences, and enjoy a slice of anniversary cake with everyone.
For 40 years, Clyst Caring Friends has supported older and vulnerable people across Broadclyst, Pinhoe and the surrounding villages. Through transport services, social activities, befriending support and close partnership working with the Pinhoe and Broadclyst GP practices, they continue to play a vital role in reducing isolation and strengthening community connections.
Congratulations to all the staff, volunteers and supporters who have made this remarkable milestone possible, and thank you for such a warm welcome.
