I want to thank everyone who helped make Exmouth Armed Forces Day such a success.
As a former Royal Marine, it was a real privilege to spend the day with veterans, serving personnel, cadets, military charities and local people celebrating the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces.
My sincere thanks go to the Exmouth Royal Marines Association for the enormous amount of work that went into organising the event. It was clear how much time and effort had been invested, and the day was a credit to everyone involved. I'd also like to thank the Royal Marines Charity for their support, and the many volunteers who helped make the event possible.
Most of all, thank you to everyone who came along. It was fantastic to see so many people showing their support for our Armed Forces community. Our area has a proud military heritage, not least through our close links with Commando Training Centre Royal Marines Lympstone, and it was wonderful to see that reflected throughout the day.
Events like this are a reminder that we should never take for granted the dedication and sacrifice of those who serve, those who have served, and the families who stand behind them.
