Last November, I was at Paddington Station for the launch of GWR’s enhanced WiFi pilot train, powered by Formula One technology - a long-overdue upgrade to improve onboard connectivity for passengers.
I’m pleased to have since received an update on the results. The trial was highly successful, improving WiFi connectivity from 25% to 98%, with speeds faster than many people’s home broadband.
Given the success of the pilot, we’ll now be making the case to Government for this investment to be rolled out across all GWR trains. This is particularly important for our region, which has historically received lower levels of transport investment than it deserves, and would significantly improve the experience of those travelling.
