Today I visited Waterdance Fishing in Woodbury to meet with the team and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the fishing industry here in Exmouth and Exeter East. Fishing has always been an important part of our coastal economy, and it was valuable to hear directly from those working in the sector.
We spoke about a range of issues – from regulation and sustainability to market pressures and the need for long-term support for the industry. These conversations are crucial in helping me understand how government policy is impacting those at the frontline of fishing, and where I can step in to help.
I want to thank everyone at Waterdance for their time and for sharing their insights. I will continue to work closely with the fishing community to ensure their voices are heard in Parliament and to help secure a sustainable and successful future for the industry.
