I have heard from many local people, businesses and river users who are deeply concerned about the proposed Port of Exeter Harbour Revision Order.
As you will see in my objection letter, many people were not aware of the scale of the proposed changes until very late in the process, and the documents released are highly technical, difficult to access and leave a number of important questions unanswered.
I am also very concerned about the potential impact on local clubs, volunteer organisations and businesses, many of whom have contacted me to express their worries. The lack of clarity about how the new powers would be used has understandably heightened this anxiety.
I have therefore, submitted a formal objection to the Marine Management Organisation, calling for the HRO to be paused or withdrawn until full, accessible and meaningful consultation can take place.
