Today I visited the East Devon Ambulance Operations Centre, where I met with staff and saw first-hand the vital role they play in keeping people safe across Exmouth and Exeter East.
The visit gave me an opportunity to learn more about how the centre operates, from managing calls and dispatching crews to ensuring that ambulances are where they are needed most. I was hugely impressed by the professionalism, dedication and teamwork of everyone working there.
We also spoke about the pressures the service is under, with rising demand and increasing strain on resources. These honest conversations are essential in helping me understand how I can best support our ambulance teams and press for the investment and staffing they need.
I want to thank the whole team at the East Devon Ambulance Operations Centre for welcoming me and for the extraordinary work they do every day to keep our communities safe.
