I recently had the opportunity to visit Exmouth Fire Station and meet with Gavin Ellis, Chief Fire Officer at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
We had an important discussion about the challenges the service is facing - including funding, recruitment, and the increasing pressures on crews across Devon. Our firefighters put themselves on the line every day to keep people safe, and it’s vital they have the support and resources they need.
I’m really looking forward to joining the team for a shift over the summer recess to see their work up close and gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day reality for our fire crews.
