We had a really useful discussion about the challenges facing small businesses, including apprenticeships, National Insurance, and business rates. I also took the opportunity to hear directly what more I can be doing to support firms like this.
Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and it is so important that we protect and support them. Too often, they are being squeezed by rising costs and increasing pressures.
The Chancellor must wake up and see the damage that these decisions are doing to hardworking local businesses trying to grow, invest, and create jobs in our community.
