I recently visited Greendale Farm on a visit organised by the NFU to learn more about their anaerobic digestion (AD) plant and see how they're turning farm waste into renewable energy.
Materials that would otherwise be considered waste, such as cattle manure and farm crops, are used to generate electricity that helps power the Business Park.
The process also produces a nutrient-rich fertiliser that can be returned to the land, creating a sustainable cycle that benefits both the farm and local businesses.
It is a really good example of farm diversification in practice, and how agriculture can play an important role in improving energy resilience.
