David talking at the Deaf Academy

I recently visited the Deaf Academy where I spent time with students in their residential communal areas and saw first-hand the supportive environment the Academy provides. It was a privilege to meet such inspiring young people and to learn more about the opportunities the Academy creates for them.

During my visit, I pledged to support the Academy with their charitable and fundraising objectives. The work being done here is life-changing, and I am committed to helping ensure the Academy continues to thrive.

Looking ahead, I will be supporting the Academy as they prepare for their 200th anniversary celebrations in 2026. This milestone will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Academy’s proud history and the vital role it continues to play in our community.

What Exmouth and Exeter East Families Told Me About SEND

Wednesday, 12 August, 2026
Few issues generate more letters and emails to my constituency office than special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Back in March, I promised to bring together parents, carers and professionals from across Exmouth and Exeter East to discuss the challenges facing local families.
